Notion is a collaborative tool that allows you to share information with other members of your team, family, or friends, although you can also use it individually. Notion allows you to store information in a different way than we are used to, but it has certain similarities to how we do it now.

Normally, we save our digital information on our computer, for which we usually create folders and subfolders to classify this information in some way. We use different programs to store different types of information:

  • Text editors: Notepad, Emacs, and Vi.
  • Word processors: Wordpad, Microsoft Word, OpenOffice.org Writer, Abiword, …
  • Spreadsheets: Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice.org Calc.
  • And other widely used ones: PDFs (All types of digital documents), JPGs (Images), MP4 (Video), etc.

With Notion you can do everything you already do, but all with a single tool. Additionally, your information will be stored in the cloud, and you can access it from anywhere with network access, including from your mobile phone via its App. It allows you to use a multitude of blocks, each with specific functions that will help you create your own universe of information. You can use it for your personal, professional, or educational information.

Among other things, it allows you to create a hierarchy very similar to folders, but instead, they are called pages that can contain other subpages, rich text, data tables with many functions, calendars with alerts, photo galleries, save or embed videos, audios, save PDF files, links to websites, and much more. You can also connect it with Google Drive or import information you already have in other clouds like Evernote, Trello, and Asana.

More About Notion

Notion offers us a distinct and revolutionary concept of information storage. As its creators say, it’s an all-in-one workspace. Instead of having dozens of tabs open, one for each type of information, Notion gives us the opportunity to have everything in one place and in a single application; it is incredibly versatile and can be used for whatever you want.

Notion Labs Inc is a startup based in San Francisco, founded in 2016. Two of the main investors are Josh Kopelman, an American entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and philanthropist, and Ram Shriram, a founding board member and early investor in Google.

It is a cross-platform application that you can use interchangeably in your web browser, as a desktop application for Windows or Mac, or on your mobile phone or tablet, as it has Apps for Android and iPhone. The extension is also available Notion Web Clipper for Chrome and Firefox browsers, which allows you to save the content of any webpage you are browsing to your Notion workspace.

You can use it individually, and also as a team, as it is an excellent collaborative tool that allows you to share content with your entire team in real-time, assigning different access permissions, and enabling comments, task assignments, and reminders.

Notion increases productivity, prevents errors, improves organization, and establishes clear and accessible foundations for the entire operation of your company or personal project.
